TORNADO PLAYERS TO APPEAR IN ESPN’S DRAFT COVERAGE

(Indianapolis)-   During the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this past weekend, ESPN filmed elements that will be used throughout its coverage of the NFL Draft.   When the sports media giant needed additional athletes for their video shoot, they turned to the Indianapolis Tornados minor league football team for support.
“The Tornados were more than willing to help us and best suited for what we needed based on our research and looking at images of NFL-sized athletes,” said Gabriella Robuccio, ESPN Senior Production Coordinator.   “They were fantastic to work with and delivered on everything we asked for.”

The players were equally excited.  Brandon Williams, a wide receiver who played at Franklin College and who’s been heavily recruited by teams in the Canadian Football League (CFL), said after the experience, “I’m on Cloud 9.”

“It was a great opportunity for our players to see another side of the sports industry that they haven’t been exposed to before,” explained Tornados General Manager, David Seiter, a local attorney and former sports agent.  “While they would rather hear their names called at the draft, helping ESPN with this project was still pretty cool.”

The Indianapolis Tornados are Indiana’s top minor league football team playing against the highest brand of competition at this level.   They play in Tier 1 (AAA) of the Premier Amateur Football League (PAFL) and start their season on April 28, 2018 at Mount Vernon High School.   Many of the Tornado players strive to play professionally in the NFL and the Tornados provide a chance for them to hone their skills and obtain video to share with scouts.   Many of the players have played in college and some have even played professionally.   The professionalism and size of the Tornado players attracted the ESPN staff.

Mike Tambasco, who lives in Greenfield, Indiana, is a key-grip with Midwest Grip and Lighting and has worked with ESPN at the NFL Combine for the past ten years.  He expects to be a new fan of the Indianapolis Tornados and attend their games starting next month.

“I am a little disappointed I didn’t know about them in the past.  They’re a great bunch of guys and they did a great job today,” Tambasco said.    He was pleasantly surprised to hear the Tornados will be playing this season in Fortville.   “I’m there.  I’m absolutely there with my children.   My eight-year-old son loves football and plays at the GYFL . . . I might take the whole team to Mount Vernon to show them the game.”
The Tornados offer fun, family-friendly football entertainment at affordable prices.   Tickets are just $10.   Mr. Tambasco will be glad to know that children aged 12 and under are free.

The Indianapolis Tornados look forward to hopefully other future opportunities to work with ESPN.   “Today, we made a great connection with the ESPN crew and staff.   We can hopefully build on this relationship in the future as we develop a greater understanding of their needs,” reflected Seiter.    “I will be watching every moment of the draft this year.”

For the players involved, the experience was “picture perfect.”

TORNADOS SECURE NEW VENUE FOR 2018 SEASON

(Fortville, IN)   The Indianapolis Tornados are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement with Mount Vernon High School to play all of the 2018 home games at their field.   In addition to being a clean and safe venue for fans, the stadium offers a great field and locker rooms for players.   "The digital scoreboard is a nice touch that we haven't had at other stadiums" observed Tornados GM David Seiter.   "It will allow us to display pictures and video as well as market our sponsors."   The Tornados 2018 season will kick off on April 28th, 2018.
